Yedoo Flyck. The new nimble scooter for kids aged 8 and up, with a minimum height of 125 cm

Yedoo Flyck. New scooter for children from 8 to 12 years old
Yedoo Flyck. New scooter for children from 8 to 12 years old

The charm of a scooter designed specifically for older children lies in the perfect interplay of all parameters. It has two same-size 16” wheels, narrower tyres, a lightweight frame, great geometry and fine-tuned footboard height. Flyck will open new horizons for children, increase their radius of action and encourage them to be independent. Plus, they will enjoy every second of the ride, and that’s the trick.

The ideal travel companion to get to school and see friends

Children deceive with their bodies. Every year they grow barely a few centimetres in front of our eyes, but their radius of action increases by kilometres.

Sooner rather than later, the day will come when they decide to go to the other end of the neighbourhood or housing estate all by themselves to meet their classmates. And for this, they will need appropriate means of transport. Nothing must stand in the way of friendship. That’s what the Yedoo Flyck is for.

Big wheels give children wings

Yedoo Flyck - parameters

  • Age: 8+
  • Height: from 125 cm

  • Weight: 7.6 kg

  • Load-bearing capacity: 100 kg

  • Wheels: 2 x 16 inches

  • Scooter length: 131 cm

  • Handlebar height: 82 – 92 cm

  • Tread height: 7 / 8.6 cm
  • Ride height: 4 / 5.6 cm

The concept of two equally sized wheels is becoming increasingly more popular for scooters. Why? Because the identical wheel diameter boosts the dynamics of the ride and adds to the speed-up, so riders can get up to full speed in no time.

A rear wheel of the same size also contributes to greater stability of the scooter, especially in turns where it doesn’t tend to skid as much as scooters with a smaller wheel at the back.

In addition, larger wheels generally have lower rolling resistance and cope better with bumps.

The identical wheel diameter will enhance the dynamics of the ride and add to the speed-up.

Narrower hubs and tyres

Narrower tyres also contribute to a brisk pace and the tapered hubs (74 mm), which reduce the side profile of the scooter to a minimum, also contribute to a smooth ride. This is so that the side width of the scooter does not hinder the movement of the legs and does not endanger the child’s ankles.

Time-proven frame with original reinforcement

The Flyck is based on the time-proven duel-tube frame of the KIDS series, which is lightweight and, due to special reinforcement also sufficiently strong.

The sophisticated design has not only reduced the overall weight of the scooter, but also shortened its length. Thanks to this, the Flyck retains its playfulness and agility despite the larger wheels, which is particularly useful when zigzagging between puddles, dogs and children running in the park.

Aluminium handlebar and other aluminium components such as brake levers, rims, stem, etc. also help to lighten the overall weight of this machine for the first solo adventures. It will not be a problem to grab the scooter in your hand and run up a few stairs with it.

The originally designed “Y” shaped reinforcement increases the strength of the frame and contributes to the optimal stiffness of the scooter.

Perfect geometry

The Flyck has a brilliantly designed geometry based on Yedoo adult scooters. It is easy to control, stable, and even at higher speeds it holds its course perfectly.

The joy of movement is enhanced by a large enough space for the rider that allows riders to fully relax into the ride, letting their school-weary minds relax to the rhythm of their pushing feet.

P.S.: Please let the children take it to heart that a scooter, unlike a bicycle, cannot be steered with one hand.

Clearing your head on the way home is one of the many benefits of moving outdoors. Another advantage is that riding a scooter requires more attention, especially when it comes to maintaining balance, so children can’t check their mobile while riding...

But we hope that the ride will captivate them so much that they won’t even think it.

Finely-tuned footboard height

Since the height of the footboard is one of the basic parameters of the scooter (besides the overall weight and size), we have paid truly thorough attention to it.

High height of the footboard can spoil children’s enjoyment of the ride, forcing them into a deep squat with every bounce. But when the footboard is too low, the scooter rubs against every bump.

That is why we have fine-tuned it to be light on the feet while easily overcoming common potholes.

To ensure that children do not feel like they are standing on a step and to make the ride is as comfortable as possible, we have lowered the height of the footboard to the ideal minimum.

Anti-slip footboard

The footboard with non-slip surface ensures a safe ride in all weather conditions – in wet weather, mud or on fallen leaves. Plus, it is spacious enough to fit both feet, which is especially useful on descents.

Practical integrated stand

The folding stand, which works like that on a motorbike, will please not only boys. It makes the scooter easier to park and it will thus be stable even in resting position. But we believe it will never be at peace for long.

P.S.: For the grips, we kept the reinforced and extended ends for safety. This is so that they can withstand harsher treatment when children simply “throw” the scooter on the ground in the heat of the game.

Reliable brakes

In proportion to the higher speed of the scooter, we have fitted Flyck with high quality brakes, which have a short and smooth operation and adjustable distance of the brake levers from the handlebar. Safety first!

Adjustable handlebar height

Same as most smaller scooters, the Flyck, too, has handlebar with threaded headset, which enables a wide range of height adjustment. You can change it using one inbus, so siblings of different ages can ride it.

The space for the rider is increased by a greater forward tilt of the handlebar. There are plenty of settings, so be sure to try them out and also change them as riders grow.

Flyck is designed for children from 8 years and 125 cm, but thanks to the high adjustability of the handlebars, it will last until they grow by a good 15 numbers (approx. up to 12 years).

Other well-though-out features

The Flyck has plenty of other features to make riding easier and add to the joy of movement. Here are at least some of them:

We put the supporting tubes below the footboard closer to one another, so they would not scrape on the riding surface even if sharply tilted when turning.

The rear brake wire is guided through the inside of the frame for greater safety.

Of course, there are also preparations for mounting a bottle holder and fenders and other accessories that will make your child’s journey to independence more enjoyable.

The Flyck, like our other kids’ scooters, comes with a full 3-year warranty and a 5-year frame warranty when purchased directly from our e-shop.

Bold colours

The Flyck comes in four unique colours that leave no one in doubt that this is an exceptional machine. Which one will you choose?

Conclusion

Flyck is the ideal buddy for going to school, visiting friends and for the sheer joy of movement. With Flyck, kids can manage everything important before you call them home for dinner and it will teach them how to naturally get out of any mess. Yedoo = Road to Joy. So, ride along with us.

Flyck versus Frida & Fred

The identical wheel diameter (2 x 16 inches) can also be found in the scooter for older children and for adults, Yedoo Frida & Fred, which is, one could say, a higher version of Flyck. The main advantage of this ultra-light scooter is the aluminium frame made of extruded multi-chamber profiles, so Frida & Fred weighs less than Flyck, but can carry up to 120 kg. However, its price is correspondingly higher. But if you want a scooter for life (you can swap the kids’ handlebar for an adult one), definitely think about it.
