Yedoo Mezeq has undergone innovation. Extensive changes have improved riding performance but maintained the spirit of this iconic scooter

Although it has been surpassed by other - developmentally higher models - the Yedoo Mezeq is still very high in popularity. So high that it surprises us. On some level, though, we understand. Because there is only one first love.

The redesigned Yedoo Mezeq is the ideal choice for anyone looking for a reliable, affordable yet stylish scooter that can handle urban environments, wild terrain, heavy loads and the vagaries of the weather.

A timeless classic

The Yedoo Mezeq, which was the first proper scooter for adults at one time, has become a classic. Since it was first created (in 2011), it has covered so many miles that they would equal a journey to the Sun and back.

It has turned many adults’ lives upside down and shown them the way to freedom, to new, unsuspected horizons and the joy of movement – in the urban jungle and in the forests away from the noisy crowd.

It won the hearts of big riders not only because of its larger wheels (20”/16”), high load-bearing capacity (150 kg), stability, wide footboard, and especially the disc brake, which they could rely on even in the harshest conditions.

Many also loved its simple design, which (no need to worry) the redesign references in terms of shape.

The new Yedoo Mezeq can handle anything it sets its mind to – road, mud, roots, pine needles, dry riverbed – without any fuss or unnecessary frills.

Innovations you will love

Behind the innovation of the Yedoo Mezeq scooter is the Yedoo development team led by chief engineer Jakub Bostl, designer Jaroslav Juřica and graphic studio Najbrt. Their aim was to preserve the spirit of this popular machine, while enhancing its riding performance to the highest possible level.

Development cannot be stopped, even in such an industry as the scooters. That is why we have decided to bring the best of our years of experience, design tweaks and newly available production technologies to the new Mezeq, while retaining its spirit, which can handle anything it sets its mind to – the road, mud, roots, pine needles, dry riverbeds – without any hesitation or unnecessary frills.

Frame. Two tubes instead of three

The biggest change is in the steel frame, which now consists of two tubes instead of three. Although it may not look like it at first glance, the new frame is even stronger and more stable than the previous one due to structural innovations, and it is half a kilo lighter, which will please especially the more subtle riders.

Higher vertical and torsional stiffness increases the Mezeq’s suitability for more challenging terrain and higher loads. This has enhanced the overall durability of the scooter and also extended its life.

The detailed frame construction, which, however, refers to the original Mezeq in shape with the same side silhouette, has also made it possible to increase the space for the rider and improve the overall geometry of the scooter.

The new Mezeq is even easier to control, you can lean into the bounce due to greater space for the rider, and let your body and psyche relax to the regular rhythm of bouncing feet.

The Mezeq keeps on track well, is legible and, like the previous model, robust and stable.

Components you can rely on

The original Mezeq, with its solid steel frame and disc brakes, gave riders great value at an affordable price, and this will remain true even after the redesign.

For the new Mezeq, we have retained most of the original components. The ones we have renewed remain on the same or higher quality level.

On the new Mezeq, you will find the time-tested Tektro Aries disc brakes, which have a fast and smooth brake effect and work reliably in all weather conditions – wet, mud and snow ...

The scooter is again fit with wider (2.25) Kenda tyres, which are mounted in double-wall aluminium rims, so you do not need to worry about wild off-road riding.

The rims have remained qualitatively the same, only they are now black, same as the spokes. The dark colour of the wheels, rims and spokes allows the rich colours of the frame to stand out. You can choose between orange, green, black, blue or the elegant silver frame colour.

The Aluminium NOVATEC Disc wheel hubs with industrial bearings, which are easy to adjust and maintain and have low rolling resistance under load, have also remained the same.

The ergonomically shaped grips with a pleasant surface have remained, too. They fit well in the hand and due to the double fastening hold fast.

There is also preparation for mudguards and a bottle holder.

Removable footboard

The wide plastic footboard with anti-slip tread, which was one of the favourite features of the original Mezeq, also adorns the redesigned Mezeq.

However, the plastic part of the footrest is now removable (can be unscrewed).  Riders who prefer comfort, speed, longer distances and therefore the lowest possible tread height will be particularly happy with this choice. The tread height is reduced by 5 mm by removing the plastic footboard.

Removing the footboard also reduces the overall weight of the scooter by 300 g. This comes in handy on long stretches where every gram down helps, or for those who have to carry the scooter frequently.

However, the plastic footboard has its advantages – it provides a good base for the feet when descending, gives beginners a feeling of stability and greater comfort when changing legs.

Everyone’s needs are different and change with time, so having a choice is always useful. What do you say?

You may have noticed that the rear heel stop that was previously part of the plastic base is now metal and part of the steel chassis after the redesign.

The new heel stop, which can be used not only to secure the standing leg but also when handling the scooter, is decorated with a newly moulded Yedoo logo.

The wide plastic footboard with anti-slip tread, which was one of the favourite features of the original Mezeq, also adorns the redesigned Mezeq. However, it is now removable.

The new side stand is removable and part of the standard equipment

The original centre stand, which to the delight of many resembled a motorcycle stand, has been replaced with a side stand – the same one we use on the Yedoo Steel and Alloy scooters. For the Mezeq, unlike the others, though, it will already be part of the standard equipment.

The new stand does not reduce the ride height of the chassis and, like the footboard, is removable, so if you want the lightest possible machine, you can remove it. Perhaps at least for a while, during longer summer adventures, and then when you return to the city you will put it back in place. Practical, isn’t it?

Great value at an affordable price

The innovated Yedoo Mezeq is the ideal choice for anyone looking for a reliable, affordable yet stylish scooter that can cope with urban environments, wild terrain, heavy loads and the vagaries of the weather.

With improved geometry, more room for riders, a lighter but stronger frame and beautiful rich colours, the Mezeq will be even more fun to ride. It will be so good you won’t even want to get off/stop! Riding!
