Yedoo Team recommends. Part II
| Vendula KosíkováEach of us is completely different, what connects us are the scooters. We ride them with passion, we like to develop them, produce them, improve them or at least talk about them. We have our own as well as our service ones at home, and we have each become attached to one. Which ones are they?
Dan
Success is based on a strong vision, resolute will and never-ending patience. Dan Pilát, general manager of Yedoo company and brand, has more than enough of each of the three attributes. “Seasonal goods business is not easy, but I believe in Yedoo, especially when I look back and see the amount of work and the number of successes we have already achieved in building the brand.
"Scooter brings people joy of movement, a lot of fun and improvement of the quality of life in general, without burdening them with demanding maintenance or high purchase price.”
It is not only the large number of small expressions of appreciation from our clients (which, by the way, we value the most), the unbelievable achievements of the adventurer Marek Jelínek or the modern nomad Blandine, but also for example the award for the Yedoo Wolfer scooter at the international Red Dot product design award.
From the user point of view, a scooter is a very simple machine, and if it is well designed and well made (which is not all that easy), it is a pleasant and useful product. It brings people joy of movement, a lot of fun and improvement of the quality of life in general, without burdening them with demanding maintenance or high purchase price.”
"With a scooter, more than in any other case, you can experience that the journey itself is the destination.”
Dan Pilát likes the Trexx, asphalt, plains and riding downhill. With his son Ondra, who is currently testing the Frida & Fred model, they go on exercise trips along the rivers Vltava or Berounka. Sometimes Dan's wife Katka joins them on her red Trexx. “We do not go regularly, but every time we get the right impulse, it turns out to be a great trip. We are always surprised by the distance we cover, while we manage to perceive the surroundings one hundred percent. With a scooter, more than in any other case, you can experience that the journey itself is the destination.”
Alena
Due to lively communication with production, Alena knows, when each model will come off the production line, which one is in transit and which has arrived at the warehouse.
“I became so attached to one prototype of a steel scooter with 28”/20” wheels that the boys gave it a working title Ála. In the end, the model did not make it into production and I began to discover the advantages of other scooters, too.”
She experienced the very beginnings at the company, which is perhaps why she swears by the Mula. She has many beautiful memories connected to this scooter. She most likes to remember how she rode the 15th stage of the 100th Tour de France cycling race that measured 242 km on it, which ended on the top of the cycling Mecca of Mont Ventoux, or the amateur endurance relay races entitled “24 hours on a scooter” that take place every spring at Stromovka park.
“We had some amazing times at the races in Stromovka, but in general I prefer to ride more slowly so as to be able to take in the surrounding landscape more intensely. I can still recall the crackling of wheat, the shimmering heat haze above the road or the smell of lavender fields in Provance under Mont Ventoux.”
In the Czech Republic, Alena prefers the bike trail along the Labe river between Nymburk, Poděbrady and Libice nad Vltavou. At home in her apartment in Prague-Vinohrady, she has the Mule as well as a Rodster parked. Both scooters fit well into the elevator as well as in the car, they are light and easily storable.
Martin
Martin is in charge of quality control, but he engages in development and testing of new prototypes as well. “Who can claim that riding a scooter is part of his job? I am happy for it. Some aspects of my work are stressful, but as soon as I hop on a scooter, peace of soul sets in, similar to that which I experienced in childhood. I do the same fooling about, only now I get paid for it.”
“My work is stressful at times, but as soon as I hop on a scooter, peace of soul sets in, similar to that which I experienced in childhood.”
Riding a scooter helps Martin overcome demanding and stressful moment, when he and Kuba, the head of development, are setting up new serial production at the factory and keeping eye on such a vast number of details becomes a nearly superhuman task. “The scooter not only speeds up the work, but riding from one hall to another also gives you a chance to stretch your body and some mental refreshment.”
Martin, same as Kuba, swears by all models, but the compact and agile Dragstr, which shortens his journey to the train station, is his closest companion. He finds its short wheelbase and 20”/20” wheels, which handle riding off road well, convenient. He expects much from the new Trexx with disc brakes and from the Yedoo Wolfer RS with 28”/28” wheels, which he and Kuba are preparing for this season.
Petra
Petra specializes in online marketing. She is capable of divination from the Google Analytics as if it were a crystal ball, knows how to set up the SEO correctly, evaluate campaign efficiency or the level of conversions. She got to Yedoo recently due to studying at the Academy of Digital Marketing, where she analysed marketing activities of the Yedoo brand as part of her seminar paper.
She did not understand at first, why people even ride a scooter, but when she tried it later on, she understood: “As soon as you push off, you feel joy. Passers-by smile at you, while you are enjoying the wind ruffling your hair. I like walking, but the scooter has opened new horizons for me.
“My horizons have widened due to the scooter. Thanks to my S2016 I have discovered many beautiful nooks, alleys and districts.”
When I need to get some rest from the family, or feel like roaming around, I hop on a scooter and go where it takes me. Since I have had a scooter, I have discovered many beautiful nooks, alleys and districts. Recently, for example, I came across the slum district Na Slatinách in Prague, which was built during the First Republic between the districts of Michle and Strašnice and has been preserved to the present time. Or Hamerský pond in Záběhlice.”
In good weather, Petra rides a scooter to work. Getting from Braník to Smíchov takes her as long as it would by tram. Besides, the man from the refreshment stand sees her from afar and sets about preparing a chilled drink. You would not get that on public transportation. Perhaps she likes city scooters, because she is from Prague. She has the S2016 and the Dragstr at home, which her motorbiker friend likes to borrow, too.
Standa
Standa, deputy chief of the warehouse, who is in charge of all work related to logistics as well as to removal of goods from stock in the computer, would never exchange his life in a small village in Vysočina for the busy city of Prague. “I like the peace and nature. My wife and I like to roam around the surrounding landscape on Trexxes. The feeling of freedom, which we experience when riding a scooter, is priceless.”
“I am looking forward to properly using the Yedoo Five. It is as large as the Trexx or the S2620, but has slightly wider tyres than they do, which adds even greater comfort and stability to riding.”
Our children prefer racing around the village square. Ten-year-old Klárka has taken to Frida & Fred and Patrik, who is thirteen, likes the Dragstr. “I am already looking forward to spring to properly using the new Yedoo Five well. It is as large as the Trexx or the S2620, but has slightly wider tyres than they do, which adds even greater comfort and stability to riding.”
Jirka
If you buy a scooter from us including assembling, rest assured that it has passed through Jirka's skilful hands. Jirka specializes in assembling and adjusting scooters. Despite having been a keen cyclist before coming to Yedoo, he found his zest for scooters immediately: “On the bike, one has to hunch, which does not happen on a scooter, and you get to stretch out the entire body beautifully.”
“In addition to Trexx, I also like the Rodstr and Dragstr, because these scooters are the easiest to adjust.”
Jirka gave away his two tuned-up bicycles and he now rides a Trexx. “In the area of Olešná, where I live, the landscape is mildly undulating, fields, meadows, forests, sheer beauty, it helps one recharge wonderfully.
Over the two years since I have been working at Yedoo, I have also managed to lose 10 kg. In addition to the regular regime, which I did not use to have before as an IT guy, it is also due to riding a scooter, which is ideal for losing weight.
Martina
“In order to keep pace with my four-year-old son, who rides a bike, I bought a Dragstr with a child seat to put my two-year-old daughter into. She is keen on scootering and loves riding in the seat. As soon as I stop, she urges me to get moving again,” Martina describes her daily scootering experience. At Yedoo, she looks after support of business partners and listing of products at shopping portals, such as for example Mall.
“On a scooter, I keep pace with my four-year-old son on a bike wonderfully.”
Martina uses the light and agile Dragstr not only for her journeys to the pre-school, but also on weekends at the weekend house, where she likes to roam on bike trails along the Otava river on it. In addition to Dragstr, Martina also has the Wzoom child scooter and the robust Mezeq parked at home, which she loves to ride in the forest area of Kunratický les.
Petr
“One foot in jail and the other in the graveyard,” says Petr about his work. He delivers goods at Yedoo as serves as “fast connection” between the warehouse in Humpolec and the Prague headquarters. “On the other hand, though, there is a certain beauty and freedom in it, I am not in one place all the time, I'm not ruining my eyes at the computer,” explains one of the eldest members of the Yedoo team.
Petr cannot conceal his love for motors, even when he talks about scooters. His favourite model was a prototype of an electric scooter. “I rode it on weekends at the weekend house, until robbers stole it from there. So if you happen to see an electrified Yedoo Mezeq somewhere, please, let me know, it was the only model of its kind in the world.”
Eva
Eva has been handling financial flow and corporate documents at Yedoo, she supervises stock records, generates countless statistics, prepares documentation for banks, accountants etc. Although she is a newcomer at Yedoo, she has been connected to scootering, especially to the Rollo league races, since 2013.
"Scootering is one of few sports not yet governed by money, but by human community.”
While she does not compete, she has received much acknowledgement, especially for supporting the Ultima competition team and many other scooterers, whom she has been supplying with quick sugar in the form of her irresistible cakes and pies. “The only scootering medal I have is from one race in Šumava, some three years ago. Due to bad weather, the Sunday race did not take place then and the order was decided by drawing lots. To the amusement of the others, I drew the first place. What I like the most about the party of people around scooters is this light and friendly atmosphere. Scootering is one of few sports not yet governed by money, but by human community.”
Eva used to move about on K7 at the races. Now, after an unplanned health break, she is looking forward to spring and the Yedoo Wolfer very much. “What I like the most about this one is its low weight and the low footboard, which will be ideal for my exercise outings and later for long trips.”
Denisa
Denisa's domain is foreign trade, which is close to her heart not only because she is living in Paris at the moment. That comes in handy, though, because in her leisure time, Denisa is a model. Well, just for Yedoo for the time being, but who knows? Denisa likes to communicate with people from different parts of the world and to form business partnerships in countries, where scootering is not as widely popular yet, as it is in the Czech Republic.
“I like to watch how people are completely fascinated by a scooter at first. How the first ride puts a smile on their face and they immediately begin to think about where they could travel with it and to whom they will send a snapshot to show off this new thing they have discovered.
The S1616 has become the dearest to my heart, during the photographing of the Yedoo Steel scooter collection. We are an excellent match, because she highlights my style perfectly.
I am pleased to offer a product that deals with the issue of an ecological means of transport while also bringing enjoyment of the ride and a lot of fun. The S1616 has become the dearest to my heart, during the photographing of the Yedoo Steel scooter collection. We are an excellent match, because she highlights my style perfectly. Besides, she absorbs vibrations wonderfully, which is especially fitting for riding on uneven city streets.”
